Sun Scream with Sun Scream - An Interview

***** Interview with Sun Scream *****

Q. When did Sun Scream start? Tell us about the history...
We started about a year and a half ago, based on a mutual interest of Psych rock and biscuits! We all loved the same music so it only seemed natural that we should form a band. After forming, we quickly established our own sound, got some gigs and it all snowballed from there!

Q: Who are your influences?
Pink Floyd is a massive influence for us, both Syd Barret and post Syd. But we are also massively into our contemporary psych, to name a few: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, thee oh sees, tame impala, Khruangbin and a dash of classic rock and stoner rock.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
This is a tough 1 for me (in no particular order)
-Black Sabbath- Paranoid
-Nick Drake- Pink Moon
-Primal Scream- Screamadelica
-Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon
-Khruangbin- May the universe smile upon you

Q. How do you feel playing live?
We love it! We enter a psych wonder land. We are at our most happy. Playing live you are in a state where you loose all consciousness, no ego, anxiety, hunger, stress even feeling of the body... that is ultimate happiness.

Q. How do you describe Sun Scream sounds?
Psychedelic rock, with a hint of Shoegaze and stoner rock.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We usually track the drums and bass together, overdub the guitars using all manner of crazy pedals, throw in some keyboards and usually vocals last. The final mix is not far away from the original scratch track really.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
We all swear buy a wonderful psychedelic rock band called Khruangbin, they are inspired by Thai Funk but really create a sound of there own. We wood also recommend Moon Duo, King Gizzard and Wand.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We sometimes do our own psych version of Devils Haircut by Beck... but doing a black sabbath track is always fun.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Just keep on gigging and release our recently recorded EP! It is 90% ready!

Q: Any parting words?
Thank you for the great questions, and keep on rockin' in the free world... of course.
